Justification: To make just or reconcile. From the Latin iustus, “just” and fico, “make.”
Propitiation: favorable toward, atonement. From the Latin propitius, meaning “favorable,” that is made of pro, “toward or for,” and petere, “to make for, beg, request.”
Reconcile: To bring together. From the Latin re, “again” and concilare, “to make friendly.”
Redeem: To buy back, repurchase, atone for, ransom, rescue. From the Latin redimo, that is made of red, “to go back, again” and emo, “to buy.”
