I put together a plan today for reading though the Bible in 90 days. Many people think about reading though their Bible in the new year but few actually accomplish the task, tending to start with a bang but fizzle out in a month or so. This year there are many things that will help a person read all 66 books. [1] Doing it all in three months, while the enthusiasm is fresher, might be easier to pull off than spreading it out over a year. [2] Reading 30 minutes in the morning and 3o minutes in the evening should easily get you through the Bible. You can read the whole volume aloud in 75-80 hours. In fact, reading it out loud may help you learn more. [3] Because of the writers’ strike, there is nothing on TV but sports and reality TV. Not that TV should come before scripture anyway, but now you have even more motivation to leave the tube turned off and read God’s word instead. [4] If you like sports, tell yourself that you cannot watch the game until the day’s reading is finished.
Here is the reading plan in PDF format.
On January 1, 2008, I will start making some daily comments on the readings. I hope you’ll leave some comments of your own.
