I stumbled on a truism this morning that has been made truer for me by the Internet. “I find that a great part of the information I have was acquired by looking up something and finding something else on the way.” (Franklin P. Adams) This is true when writing Daily Reform. It was true when I was researching papers for seminary and college. Before that it was true when writing sermons or studying my Bible with reference notes. Those notes would send me on all sorts of chases and discoveries. The internet however helps me quickly acquire new information. A new Firefox add-on has increased potential information acquisitions. StumbleUpon is a “collaborative surfing tool for finding and sharing great sites.” I would never have considered searching for some of the sites I have “stumbled upon” recently. The best part of Stumbling is that one may do so only in his own areas of interest—such as literature, graphic arts, Christianity, and so forth.
