This morning was the annual Peace Officers’ Memorial Service here in Alamance County, NC. This community service honors the lives of fallen Peace Officers in the county.
As a police chaplain, I was asked to offer the Invocation. Here it is:
Almighty and Everlasting God, how marvelous are your works and excellent your name. In this ever changing world, you alone are eternal. Your days have no end. Our days, however, are numbered, our strength exhausted, our breath soon gone. Yet you have created us to have fellowship with you forever. Revive us this morning; refresh our spirits. Remind us that you have created us to have our share in eternity, being in your presence evermore. Continue this everlasting friendship by making yourself known in our company this morning; fill our hearts with joy in your companionship and the peace that passes understanding. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ who is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Amen.
